I bought a Wellcraft bow rider over the winter with a Volvo AQ131 with a SP out drive. Before I put it in the water this spring I want to tune it up to minimize problems this summer. I was planning on:

New Engine Oil
Engine Oil Filter
Out drive Oil
Trim pump Oil
New Spark plugs
New fuel filter
New fuel/water separator filter

What other things should I check/replace? Should I go ahead and replace the raw water impeller? Do I need to service the out drive at all?

I'm new to the whole boat thing so thanks a lot for your help!

Greg

Re: Boat Tune Up

The impeller would be a good idea to replace it.
A can of SeaFoam in the gas tank.
Drain and refill outdrive,Check for signs of water in gear oil..Milky look..
If you don't know how old the battery is go ahead and replace it.
How long has the boat been not in use?

Re: Boat Tune Up

It was used last summer.

Also, there is a spot of like JB weld on the exhaust manifold, looks to be patching a hole. It runs fine with it but I'm still worried about it. What do you guys have to say about this?

Greg

Re: Boat Tune Up

Do a search on JB welds, exhaust manifold cracks, and improper winterization.

See if this will help for your tuneup.

Regarding JB Weld, in my opinion, that is a temporary fix to get you home where you can fix it right.
