i just got my boat back from the shop. They put a new water pump in and rebuilt and cleaned the carburator and put a new diaphram in the fuel pump. When i try to start the boat it wont turn over. I sprayed some starter fluid in it and it will turn over and run for a second or two then cut off. it wont start unless i spray starter fluid in there even then it will cut off after a second or two. What is causn this

Re: Boat trouble starting

I would start checking the fuel supply lines and carbs sounds to me like it isnt getting any gas for some reason. I had a problem with a fuel line primer bulb I drove myself crazy trying to figure out why it wouldnt run and i just needed new primer bulb to fix the problem.

Sounds like fuel, however, it would be easier if you posted the motor's stats. Also never use "starter fluids" such as ether in a 2 stroke engine. Thats a quick way to "hurt" them. If you need to test them by spraying fuel in the carb throats, then use pre mix, in a spray bottle (very carefully I might add).

I'd take it back to the shop to have it fixed as a warranty repair. It should have been in running condition when you picked it up.
