This was two weeks ago on the Willamette in OR. A guy with a racing boat, one with big crome exhausts, was getting pulled down the river in his dead boat. We packed up and headed for the boat dock. I got out and went to get the truck. The line was backed way up and going no where. After 15 minutes the Sheriff came around the corner and said there was a problem on the ramp and it would be a while. After another 10 minutes I decided to go around the corner to the dock and see what was up. Well the guy with the dead speed boat was trying to get it on his trailer. Should not be to hard it is a fairly small boat. I get to the ramp and find out they backed the trailer over the end of the ramp. He had tried brute force to pull it out and broke his rear end. They had one guy standing on the back of the boat with a ski rope wrapped around the boat and the trailer and he was trying to pull the trailer up to the boat. Almost sinking the boat with the weight of the trailer and the V8 engine on the back of this litte boat. I finally decided to step in. There were two guys standing in the water. I told them to grab the wheel wells and lift. Now we had three people instead of only one lifting. They got it up a little bit. So I had the driver start to pull slowly with the front wheel drive that was left. The wheels were spinning so we sat on the hood and got enough traction to get the boat and trailer out of the water. We now headed back to our rigs. The two guys on the sides were now sitting on sides of the boat. The driver pulled forward pretty quick and about 100 feet from the ramp hit the brakes and slammed to a stop pitching the two people on the sides onto the pavement. No serious injuries just scrapes and bruises.

FYI I am not perfect. I left the plug out on my first time out in my 67 correctcraft and my sister in law said is there supposed to be water back here? I put the plug in and half hour later the bilge was empty and we had a great day.

Hey GJ,
I also live in Portland.
What ramp was this?
Cathedral Park?
If you like to spend an afternoon watching some comical stuff, head on over to Willamette Park ramp off Macadam!
It gets pretty crazy there!

hummm....

Also could be Rogers Landing in Newberg...

FYI the red paint on the dock signifies the end of the ramp and the water level changes often.

Seen a couple of good ones at that ramp.
Fun place to spend the afternoon when the water is down.
