Trying to gets some ideas on where to look for a water leak. Infor on my boat 96 stingray 240cs with alpha gen 2. Currently when anchored the bilge pump will kick on about every 3 hours. I had this issue last year and during the winter i had the bellows replaced thinking that might be it. Also i only have 1 underwater thru hull fitting and verfied that is not letting water in. Anybody have any ideas where to check? Trying to find time to lunch the boat on a non busy day so i can stick my head down there to see if i can find the leak.

It can be in many places and looking is the only way to find it. If the top of the gimbal ring is under water when the boat is sitting, then it could be the upped pivot pin seal

A smartphone on a selfie stick taking video while the boat is in the water is invaluable....

Trying to gets some ideas on where to look for a water leak. . . . Anybody have any ideas where to check? . . . .

Back of the boat inside the engine bay.

Intake hoses
Transom Assembly area
Engine itself.

Once you get the boat in the water, take a look in various areas of the engine bay and the transom. If nothing appears to be leaking, run the engine and look for leaks again. Just be careful with the engine running. If the boat leaks only with the engine running, usually, you can shut the engine off and take a quick look to still see the water tricking from its source.

Let us know what you find.

I will add that if the transom is rotten it can get in through the outboard side of the drive, and leak anywhere it can find a path on the inner side of the transom.

So it took me a while to mess around with this leak, first time out i tried to find the source of the leak but it was pretty much impossible to get my head down in there, so ordered inspection camera and here is what i found. I guess i don't want to hear rotten transom but is that what this looks like?

Being the drive boot does not have any water in it
Might be a soft transom but could still be Upper steering pin, trim wires, shift boot, intake hose, transom seal

If its the transom, you should be able to take a phillips screw driver and push hard into the transom and there will be movement or puncture

I did have the bellows and trim senders replaced last year as when i pulled the outdrive there was some water in the ujoint bellow. Yesterday when i lanched it i didn't even start the motor. Just left it tied up to the dock to find the leak. Do you think the intake hose still could leak?

It can be any of the spots, even the u joint bellows if it was not installed correctly. Another spot is the trim cylinder manifold. Just takes more looking

just do not attempt to fill the boat up with water to look for leaks

pulling the drive to inspect the bellows and the pivot pin seal may be your next step.
