what product can i use to keep squirrels out of my boat for winter storage?

Nutsbgone. Seriously open everything up , clean up anything laying around that they make a nest put of . No products are made for keeping squirrels out of your boat .

I've heard rumors over the years that mothballs help to repel critters..
I know of no proof. I use 'em in my shed. I've never had a critter issue in my pontoon boat, so I haven't done that yet.
But it's cheap.

lead works wonders. especially lead that is 0.22" in diamter with a hollow point

mothballs help. put them in disposable bowls.

also dryer sheets or irish spring shavings in a disposable bowl will keep spiders.

There is a plethora of anecdotal evidence on how to eliminate critters. Most are snake oil.

A garage full of "junk" and clutter will attract varmints. Overhead doors notoriously have openings at one end or another. Thus, they have access. If the only things on your garage floor are wheels, they won't stay there.

Keeping a boat in an enclosed space will help, but only if the vessel is fully enclosed with snap-down canvas or shrink wrap.

RV trailers stored outdoors are a usual source of mice. But only if they are not sealed. The smallest hole in the underbelly will allow entry. With that hole, peppermint, moth balls, etc. will not deter them. If you use that stuff and claim to be successful, its only because you have no holes.

I love the comments about dryer sheets. They love those things. Put a bunch in and they will chew them up and make a nest out of them.

This topic is directed at squirrels. They are easier to deter than mice because they need as larger entry point.

I have some very nice, very accurate air rifles that do that job quietly !! I do some pesting for local farmers as the airguns wont damage bldgs and livestock.

Even an air rifle isn't suitable for close quarters in the city. Trapping works, but they keep coming back. There seems to be an endless supply of those little critters.

Never had to shoot at fiberglass, in fact, never hit anything I didn't intend to shoot. With the correct pelket choice the pellet never leaves the critter, even as small as a chipmunk !! Controlled pesting it is called, been doing it for 25 years.

Airguns are excellent in close quarters if you know how to use them. I have a number of farmers where I shoot inside there buildings to control pests as close as 7-8 ft. Gotta choose the right gun and pellet...

When I was in grade school I took a course in taxidermy. Started with birds. You had to hit them in the chest (where the incision would go), and the pellet could not go out the back or it would ruffle the feathers. My pristine mounts would indicate I figured it out.

That all worked fine on our dead end street.....until houses were built behind us. My comments above were directed at CITY places. The old lady behind us would have called the cops if she detected any "violence" (haha). The other issue was local laws. I can go to a gun shop and buy a 1911 on my permit. But, air guns are not legal withing city limits. (you can't make this stuff up)

Beg to differ there, been shooting for over 60 years, never in those years have I ever shot something I did not intend to shoot !! When in close quarters you use less powerfull airguns, even if a fiberglass boat were shot, it would just leave a mark no holes.
