I have a heated building to store my 2465 regal, with volvo penta 5.0, just woundering if it's best to leave water inside the engine once I flush it before storage ? Would this help cut down on the amount of rust from forming ? Or should I drain the engine and leave it empty? Or maybe fill it with antifreeze when drained ? If it is recommended to fill with antifreeze, anyone know roughly how many liters I will need ?

You are spoiled rotten with heated storage.I hate you..Lol The 2 choices are drained totally or filled with AF.My preference is filled with AF as thats the way I have winterized for the past 30 years.Many here will steer you towards empty.% gals of 50/50 AF will do the trick.DO NOT store with water in it.Charlie

Thanks for the reply, I will drain and use antifreeze, and yes love my heated steel insulated building, keeps the boat looking young lol

heated storage is one storm away from cold storage. think texas, the chemical plant that went down in winter because the power went out that is still down.

Was about to add that same thing. Unless you are in an area that will NEVER get to 20's or lower, I would always drain. Doesn't take long. One expected power outage will get very expensive.

I'm at the time of the year where I pull the drain plugs after every use, even if it isn't scheduled to go below freezing. I've had too many emergency trips from unexpected weather!
