Well you set the idle jets by turning each in til it stumbles then out til it gets stinky or rough. And then split the difference. But that won't make it only get 3000 rpm. Did you check the whole engine for compression? How is the alignment? Same prop as before? Same weight? Trim down for takeoff?

Ran great last year before spinning couple at wot. Ya i guess its time for another compression test. Havent rechecked it since replacing valve in head. To top it all off my drive axle came off dodge truck on way home from lake. I guess theres a recall from dodhe anout it. Lovely

Coult aligment make it run that terrible? It all marks all the way around alignment bar but didnt pull out effortlessly. Rpms at 900 in idle nuetral but 650 in idle forward. I thought i remember it being 650 for both last year

As I stated before NO But you will loose another coupler.if you don't address it.Do a compression test and vacuum test that will tell you the condition of your 305. Then pull it and drop a 350 in there...
