The first time I worked the Miami Boat show we were showing a new model engine. It was 466 CI with a tunnel ram intake and dual carbs. That and the polished Bassett headers drew a lot of attention. Of course everybody wanted to know "How fast?". I would then go into a long explanation of "It depends on the boat......." and "single or twins or tripples........." and "jet or V drive or stern drive or inboard........". Anyway, one evening 3 guys came by who had obviously been to the refreshment stand several times, started patting the motor and drooling and asked "how fast?". I could tell their collective attention span was somewhat less than their almost empty beer cups. I walked over, patted the motor myself and said "you won't belive this but -- IT'LL RUN WIDE OPEN!". All three took a step back and looked at me in total amazement and said "NO Sh*t!!" then slowly walked away telling each other how that was the fastest motor they had ever seen!
