I am still some years away from my first boat purchase, but I'll be going to my first boat show in a few weeks. This one's in Cincinnati OH. Not sure what to expect from the show, hope it won't exacerbate my envy.
Bill Montgomery

Re: Boat show

I haven't been to the Cincinnati boat show before but I can guarantee your going to drool. The boats always look so good in the middle of winter and they make it so easy to purchase them you'll probably walk out with one if your not careful. Enjoy the show and hold on to your wallet because it will be coming out of your pocket allot easier that you think.

Re: Boat show

Bosco2
The boat show is a great place to see all the different types of boats and get an idea of what will meet your needs. Out here the boat show is the best price you will see for the Spring and Summer. Big savings is shipping, boats ordered during the boat show the manufacture pays the shipping. I think the best time for price is in the fall after Labor day when the dealer is looking at storing the boat for winter with not much chance of selling it. If he can't sell it then the wear and tear of the winter plus next spring will be a year old and both equal lower price so he really wants to sell before winter. Problem in wating for fall is the boat you want may have been sold with no dealer plans to order until next spring boat show.
When it is time to buy make a list of what you need and check some prices before you go. Know what a anchore you want cost or a horn. It is just like buying a car they will be pushing options you may not want or need. also when they install these options the dealer may not do the best job. An exanple I got a 6" compass installed and wished I had done it my self. Where they mounted it wife or a short person can not see unless stand up or lean way foward. also mounted it within 4 inches of the windshield motor so if turn on the windshield wiper compass changes at least 20 degrees.
Boat show the place to see all the boats and get a good idea of what you want and can afford. Out here best prices at the show if you know what options you want and what they should cost. They will charge full list price if you do not know what it should cost. One thing that I did not want, a saftey kit for $80, I found they put in boat anyway for free. I told heim I did not order it and he informed me could not sell without it. It included an anchore and anchore line, 4 liftjackets and a fire extinger. Only thing I put in boat was the fire extengier. Have Fun and take a small Digital Camera.
