May vary from state to state, but I'd expect new owner to be assigned a new number.

Looks like the $21,900 seller swiped an "on the water" photo of the same model from the $5,000 seller's ad, just to show what the boat looks like "on the water." The only thing I find suspicious about that is, why no ACTUAL "on the water" photos of the ACTUAL boat for sale?

(Also, print that $5k ad to show as a comp, LOL )

Bought a boat used here in TN and the registration numbers stayed the same when I registered it to me. Bought one from VA and TN issued me new numbers. I had to peel off the numbers from VA. I'm sure it varys from state to state. VA is a title state TN is not don't know if that made a difference when I transfered the VA boat to me.

Why don't you simply ask them?I have serious doubts hideaway is trying to scam you.Sure doesn't look like a shady operation to me.

I believe registration is State dependant. When I bought used boat in NY, reg# stayed same, just changed to being in my name.

$21,900 vs $5,000 - what??

Any time, in any state, when transferring from another state to another, you get new rego numbers assigned. Some states, even within the same state, new numbers are assigned when ownership is transferred. In other states, as long as the boat is kept in the same state, the numbers from the first registration are transferred to the new owner. You need to check with your state for the details.

Boats From USA is not a listing site, it gathers stuff from everywhere as a consolidated list. The cheap Rinker is an Ebay auction and I've had no luck finding it on Ebay even when the ad says it's listed on Ebay.

I would call Hideaway and ask why two different boats are in their ad and which one is being sold.

Some of those might be stock photos from the manufacturer.

Yup, my bet as well. The original owner tried selling the boat on Ebay, likely using a 5K starting price. The boat didn't sell, so he traded it in to the dealer, who now has it listed for 21.9k.

Ebay sales often use a really low starting bid to create activity, but will never be sold anywhere near that price as it may have also been listed with a "reserve" price several times the price of the starting bid.

Michigan (MC) numbers stay put until the boat is registered out of state.

Both the original owners address, and that of the dealer now selling, are located in SE Mi within very reasonable driving distance of each other.

and...if this is the same boat, the sellers story doesnt make sense about one owner sold to him as new, it was always rack stored with them, no trailer ever been on this boat (but other listing shows differnt)

I wish i could see hull serials but i can't

That is a sleazy dealer. No mention pics are of another boat in the ad. Bait and switch?

So which one was being sold for the big money?
