I just bought a 1986 19ft Blue Fin Sportsman, owner had passed and seller knew nothing about the boat, I have a lot of questions, hoping I can get help here. Boat runs great, no leaks. First question; There are 2 brass balls, size of a baseball, on each transom corner, what are they for? #2- Boat has a 12 gal removable gas take in rear, I found a fuel cap inlet in front of the boat and see a plastic fuel tank, why the 12 gal removable tank? Thank you for any help you can provide.

Removable tank may be for the convenience of filling remotely, OR a sign there are (unknown) issues with the front tank.

Brass balls maybe keep the cover from tearing on a sharp corner? Without a picture, that's the only reason I can think of.

Congrats on the new boat!

Maybe it's a mail boat? :D

Post up a photo of them. I can think of a couple of things they might be. But without lookin' who knows.

If it's got an internal tank, and they had a 12G portable too it could be for reserves - or if they had a kicker mounted on the boat.

Welcome aboard and congrats on the new boat.
