Boat Purchase with 2000 115HP Ficht

I'm looking to purchase a 2000 Seaswirl Center Console 1850 with an Evinrude 115HP Ficht on it. My questions are, is this a good dependable motor? I've heard good and bad about the Fichts and can't really tell if teh 2000 model has the problems realated to the Ficht motors. Also, for trolling, is this a good motor for running at low speeds .9 - 2.0 MPH? Thanks for any input.

In my opinion, it's a huge waste to run a 115 at an idle to troll. I doubt if you could get that slow a speed in any case.<br /><br />Sounds like an ideal application for a small kicker motor alongside the big guy. Putt...putt...putt....

I agree that a smaller motor (kicker) would be better, but I used to have a Johnson 115 that I trolled all the time with at Bull Shoals and caught a lot of fish during July. I have also done this with my 150 Johnson.

I think there were severeal upgrades to be made to those, came out by bulletins. Be sure they were made, motors are fine.

I agree with G Dane, check to see if any updates were done. I have a 2000 150HP Ficht and the only upgrade that it ever needed was the injector brakcets and it's been problem free since the day I bought it new and has about 500 hrs on it. Most of the Ficht problems were solved by 2000, and the ones with the biggest problems were the 150/175 blocks. Just use the right oil in it and you should be good.

HI<br /> i have a post in another section about my 2000 115 fichts, I have a pair on my boat and they have 2174 hours on them and are still going without any kind of rebuild, just normal servicing I would buy a new one tomorrow if i could, troll all day if you want no worries
