boat positioning

Hello all. I just replaced the bunks on my trailer. For whatever reason the outer 2 bunks are now not flush with the transom. They are sitting about an inch inward. The innner bunks are sitting perfectly flush. Should this be a concern? Also, is there a certain amount of clearance that should be allowed between the bunks and the lifting strakes?

Re: boat positioning

Knowing the size and weight of your boat, and hp and weight of your motor would help.

If you have a light little puddle jumper, you have nothing to worry about.

If you have a larger and heavier rig, maybe.

It is a 17.5 ft. Center console with a 90 hp. Mercury 2 stroke. I am not too sure of the weight. Thanks in advance!

You'll probably be OK. There is still some bunk under the transom board, wehre all the engine weight bears down.

If it was me, I'd move the winch up a inch or so, or whatever it takes to get the bunks flush with the outside edge of the transom, or even a little past them. Then you know the weight of the engine isn't trying to sheer off the back end of your boat.
