boat/motor stored 4 years

Can anyone give a little advice on how to prep an Evinrude 1989 4 stroke 60hp that's been stored for the past four years??<br />Thanx in advance for any suggestions..

Well I would start with changing the lower unit oil and replacing the impellor.

Wait a minute, there was no Evinrude 4 stroke in 1989?

It is a repainted Suzuki DF60, Nathan.

I'm now told it is an "88"... new to outboards and any info is very much appreciated...<br />I was told by the seller that it was serviced prior to it sitting in storage due to health problems..<br />is the impeller difficult to change???<br />thanx again

Sorry guys... it is a two stroke VRO<br />any help would be appreciated..

Hey 4 years is nothing I need someone the help me prep a boat and motor that hasnt been used since 1991.ONLY 12 YEARS please help us both out.

Raz, I bought a 1986 Stratos with a 1985 Merc 150 that had not been run in 5 years. So I rebuilt the water pump, the fuel pump, and the carbs. New plugs, new gas. I also ran a can of Mercurys' Power Tune through it because after all of that I had a piston ring stick. Luckily it freed up and so far everything seems fine now. But the big test will be on the water! Luck to all of us!
