Hi all,
When I purchased my boat it did not come with an engine or a boat manual. I would assume a boat is just like a car and should one. Any ideas where I can get a manual for a 17ft '96 Sylvan with a GM 4cylinder 3.0 mercruiser?
Thanks,
BA

Re: Boat Manuals

You can get the manual for the Merc right here on iBoats. I wouldn't hunt down the manual for the boat itself. There's not very much information in there that will be of use to you. They aren't typically like user manuals for a car. Though I think Sylvan is still in business if you want to try to contact customer service.

Re: Boat Manuals

They are still in buisness but as southkogs saisd they really don't make manuals for boat like your car has, too much expense and not enoguh boats to spread the cost.

If it is an older boat it has probably been modified and changed quite alot anyhow, the engine one is the one want anyhow.

Re: Boat Manuals

the owners manuals for boats, are basicly motor and drive manuals.

boats kinda are just there.....hard to explain....but what are they going to say? wax the boat every couple of months.
then check your mercruiser manual for service times?

if you were running a cruiser with multiple systems like a genset, water, heat and a/c as well as a full galley with shore power.
then yes, you need one......but for a run about......
the manual will tell you to have it winterized/summerized by your dealer.....that is about it !

fyi......iboats will tell you more than any owners manual will ever say.

tips, tricks, and much more if a person cares to learn !

cheers, and welcome to iboats
