Hi I have been in the process of rebuilding a 1988 regal medallion 185 with a 3.7 merc alpha 1. somehow water is getting into the boat but I cant figure out how. It is only noticeable if I leave the boat docked for a few days, it does not have an auto bilge pump and after about 3 days the bilge gets about 6" of water, thought it was the rain, but happened even after some very nice not rainy days, any ideas? where should I start

Re: Boat Leaking???

have you checked your ujoint bellows or your shift cable bellows? That would be a good place to start, they should be inspected yearly and replaced at least every 5 years to avoid any problems..

Good Luck and happy boating

Re: Boat Leaking???

If your boots/bellows check out ok than I would check your transom for rot. It can be around your plug or transom cut out. You can check this by raising the front of the trailer until the back of the trailer is almost touching the ground (make sure the drive does not hit the grounds). Put water into the boat until it is at the waterline on the transom when your boat is in the water. Be careful that no water goes on the starter. By finding where the water leaks out, you will have found your leak.
