Boat ID

Just bought a boat the id tag has faded can't make out the model numbers can't title it in my name if the BMV can't confirm it's the right boat.
is there any other location they might add an additional ID tag anywhere else?

It should be on the registration card.
And on the title.
Model number should be on the coast guard placard near the helm.
HIN should be imbedded in the fiberglass on the transom, top starboard side. Could be stamped into the glass, or on a metal tag attached to transom.
