Check the catalogs on retrocrestliner.com. Do the rear corner plates have a name? Looks like the rear of mine.

Reguardless what it is.... I'd float it and see if it leaks. If not it can be saved. lol.

Its an aluminum boat w fiberglass patches?

Yeah, likely a hard NO Thank you....
I’ve seen worse, visibly, the hill looks pretty good, haven’t seen any popped rivets. Judging from the fiberglass “patch”, it’s maybe a seam near the keel. No damaging fixes or odd drill holes. Apparently it was used to paddle around in the flats to go clamming, but was in a shed 15+ years.
Transom is rotted. I’ve done a fair amount of boat work big and small but this is my first aluminum one. Immediately wondering where to stick the flotation. I ain’t on no lake…

From the few pix that dont enlarge particularly clear, it appears to have extensive corrosion damage along tbe bottom of the exposed transom and port side where the blue is peeling off, amd esp the uneven chine seam ..

What you see on starboard side is dried seaweed.
There are a few pinholes at the bottom of the transom (port) but thickness and structure isn’t compromised. Im trying to understand the 2 bolts on the portside. Appear to be stainless This was the first area I checked before accepting a free boat. Though Ive never worked on an aluminum boat, I’ve certainly seen extensive damage to transome integrity due to electrolysis that goes on with battery and metal gas tanks living there over years. Being on saltwater seems to speed this process. 2Aluminum rod and benzene torch should do the trick

Just realized, the iPhone close up I have of the stern was an un-flipped mirror image! Sorry
Back at my desk. The small holes were also covered with fiberglass there’s three more hidden under what’s left. For the life of me… if you look closely they were punched out from the inside. The torn metal was still glistening when I tore away the fiberglass.
Now that I’ve discovered, nearly, what boat this is (Crestliner Viking Deluxe - late 50’s?), it looks this one might’ve been turned into a workboat. The wood transom appears to be oversized and covers symmetrical large drill holes towards the top. heavy plank for the front seat supported something.
There used to be lots of small lobster boats around here, that were also seasonal draggers for bay scallops (until banned), all in the many salt ponds behind barrier beaches. This design would’ve been perfect for that.1626802828532.png
