Hey guys, just beginning a new/old boat project on a 1984 Crestliner Nordic. Working through all the small electical issues and noticed that the horn doesn't work. It is similar to this

i check that there are 12 volts to the wires that connect it. Are these typically serviceable/fixable? No sound whatsoever, and on priciple i would love to fix it rather than replace, however if its a lost cause i'm find with the replacement. just wondering if anyone has experience with these or similar.

Re: Boat Horn help

there is a trim screw under the chrome cap, adjusting them may bring them back to life.

sometimes, bugs ie mud dobbers get in there and fill them with mud, or water rusts them out.

Re: Boat Horn help

stuff like that on boats seldom works when they get that old. If you are restoring the boat, replace. Otherwise, simplify, and get an air horn.

Ditto that. Those things are generally built from parts made of 2 or 3 or 4 dissimilar metals. Galvanic corrosion kills 'em, especially in salt.
