Dear Starmada -

So I have been looking for a 22ft Starcraft for a couple years now to potentially improve my water cruising experience. As you all know I currently have a 16ft 1979 SS lady in my driveway but I have always been in love with big girls! I found one that I am seriously thinking about offering on. She has caught my eye and I cant stop thinking about her!

STARCRAFT-HOLIDAY-22FT V5 - $3000 (ST PAUL,MN)

V5 even!

Problems I can see with our relationship from the get go:

1. I already own a boat so having another on the side wont go over well with most authoritative folks in my life

2. Shes BIG and I live in the cities - storing her properly will be an issue both during the off season and during the regular season.

3. I am not sure I could treat both evenly as the 16ft is good for city lakes and fishing and such and the new girl would be good for the Gentleman's Yearly fishing trip to Mille Lacs lakes or Lake Winnebegoshish here in MN.

4. I am infatuated and relationships are not supposed to start out that way - ends up in disaster!

Need some friendly advice from you wise, conservative, and level headed Starcraft boat owners. Do I add another girl on the side of the little cutie I have already or do I suck it up and just browse from a distance?

Sincerely;

- "Seriously Struggling Starcrafter" in MN. (aka Chuck)

When you find these mythical Starmadian's, post up a pix. It'd be interesting to see what a level headed, doesn't fully support multiple boat ownership, Starcraft owner looks like....

MBS......

Multiple
Boat
Syndrome

To know it is to love it.. And you'll need an extra garage to store them in....

Sorry to tell you & your Admiral, but you have an exceptionally aggressive, 3times stronger then the 'normal' 2foot-itis, 6foot-itis strain of MBS.

It is like a permenant bad rash... You can sooth it & make it disappear in the short term, but, eventually it will return.

You may get other more helpful replies. I suspect most of them will include:

Do it! You need this Holiday:

Best of luck while you wrestle w/ the decision to inform the Admiral....

Asking the mob whom most suffer in varying degrees from MBS whether to buy another Starcraft is akin to asking advice from an alcholic as to whether another beer is a good idea before heading home! The answer will always be yes! That said... sometimes ya just got a go for it and let the relationship grow and see how things work out. I guess if everyone analyized to death whether to get in a relationship or not... I suspect most would not!

With that said, problems most always have solutions --- just whether they are acceptable or not. Decide if you like the solutions to your challenges and the decision is goina be a whole lot easier to make!

Good luck --- and PS --- it's a nice lookin rig!

You are really only looking for affirmation in your dalliance with another. Get a grip, man! Renting a garage or storage area outside the city to "hide" the other woman ... you KNOW you will get caught, and it will get ugly. You know in your head what you should do, but your heart is telling you something completely different.

So in the end, you gotta ask yourself, head or heart? No, scratch that ... you just gotta ask yourself, can I afford her?

Problems I can see with our relationship from the get go:

1. I already own a boat so having another on the side wont go over well with most authoritative folks in my life

Need to show the benefit of owning a bigger boat, ie - couples outings, if kids are in the mix or in the future, safer on the water, more comfort

2. Shes BIG and I live in the cities - storing her properly will be an issue both during the off season and during the regular season.

Definite issue, know someone that lives out with a couple acres, paying for storage is not pleasant IMO.

3. I am not sure I could treat both evenly as the 16ft is good for city lakes and fishing and such and the new girl would be good for the Gentleman's Yearly fishing trip to Mille Lacs lakes or Lake Winnebegoshish here in MN.

It is not an issue of using evenly, each boat has their own purpose. The 22 would go most places the 16 will, unless your fishing the real shallows. A boat for use once or twice a year is probably not a wise purchase.

4. I am infatuated and relationships are not supposed to start out that way - ends up in disaster!

Your looking another mistress, hopefully the nice lady in the pics doesn't come with the boat, otherwise your looking at two. Just make sure your better half agrees and go and have fun. Infatuation with boats is a much better problem than with other things in life.

Making a very low offer to test the waters is the first step, after you get the Admirals permission. A boat that needs a new interior is not worth $3,000.

:sorry:Chuck admit it you have it bad, I saw that one on CL as well. You know it is easier to seek forgiveness than permission. Once you go big you will wonder why you waited.:whip:

If you can afford it, and afford to keep it, buy it. The rest will work itself out. Your boating tendencies will dictate what you do in the end.

Who are the authoritative folks in your life? Wife? Is so be careful, you play a dangerous game. I know I've played it and won, I've played it and lost. Losing is very painful. I will refrain from my usual buy, buy, buy, advice until I know the players in the game.

You're only going to use this boat once or twice a year? Can you store it on your property? Let's talk.

Buy it...buy it...buy it.........

It's a 22' V5! That means there are no reasons not to buy it. None. Period.

Right up near Lake Superior, 170 miles east of Duluth MN.

Approx 2400 miles from Medford Oregon, so about 2200 mile drive for you.
The wife made the drive in 5 days, but being motivated by a new boat, you should make it in 3.

Re: Boat Fever and its - degrees? What to do?

Since there's a new winter storm gripping much of the upper mid-west, I think the Starmada can allow Elkhunter a 1 day mulligan of sorts for the OR-MN road trip.

4 days, early am to mid-afternoon, so there's still daylight left on day 4 :watermelon:

From Salt Lake City driving east, a 975mi day IS possible in this weather. But further north, that may be much more challenging. However, a Starcraft of my dreams was not waiting for me at the end of my trip.............

Ok Chuck, it's Sat, the sun has started to rise & it's been 2 days.

Got SC?

Have a good weekend..

I hope to someday find one closer to Bend. Like those 25' models.

Right on Jas. Just buy a Starcraft fix it up and use it. Be happy, go boating, go fishing. No need to sell and buy and restore and sell and restore, and the constant trolling of Craigslist. Forget it.

I have looked at that 22' V5 Holiday as well, it would be a terrific Lake of the Woods boat!
