It?s a 1998 SeaSwirl 2100 Dual Console w/Johnson 175HP 2stroke outboard. Looks like a bowrider, but with higher freeboard, self-bailing fiberglass decks, no vinyl cushion anything, lots of fish and storage lockers. It?s sorta the bowrider version of a Center Console fishing boat.

I live waterfront in the boonies near the Eastern Shore of the Chesapeake Bay, MD, and the wife gave the OK to make the boat nicer. So far, aside from maintenance, I?ve installed or upgraded the livewell and pump, installed redundant bilge pumps, seawater washdown system, all fuel lines and fuel/water filters, new stainless fuel filler & cap, new bimini top, lots of new rod holders (including the Mate Series combo rod&cup holders in the bow area), lotsa wiring upgrades, installed new glove compartment, installed better fire extinguisher and ring live-preserver area, Humminbird GPS/Fishinfinder combo w/side&down scan, new Stainless LED nav lights, new tool bag w/tools&spare prop&prop wrench, Stainless ash trays, stainless cup holders.

The boat?s on a lift on my pier, and I added water hose access at the end of the pier, and extra electric outlets. The pier also has a second boat lift, with a 16? Wahoo (Boston Whaler clone boat)

The wife has not told me to stop, yet, but I?m running out of ideas while this window of opportunity is open.
I plan to add some sort of fish/bait cutting station at the end of the pier. And maybe build some 5? wide steps from the end of the pier right down to the sea floor. (For swimmers and for kayak launching) I haven?t figured how to build this, since it will be mostly under water, and subject to tides and storms.

I also plan to add a light on a 10? pole at the end of the pier. Pier is 135? long.
For the boat, I?m thinking maybe adding a built in fishing tackle box holder. Also, since I like to drive standing up, maybe an adjustable height seat, with a folding bolster to add height.

I?m thinking of doing some night fishing, so maybe some lights in the water to attract fish?

At any rate, I?m running outta ideas. Pretty soon she?s gonna want to shift money spending to the garden or some dang thing.

This is all sweat-equity and pay-as-you go, so it can?t be too dang expensive, but any and all ideas are appreciated.
As soon as I get the Manage Attachments thing to work I'll upload pics, so you know what I?m dealing with.

Power Windlass - Yeah, that may be cool. I do a lot of drift, drop anchor, pull anchor, drift, repeat fishing. The full "power" part may be a pain in the butt to install. What do you all think of a manual anchor roller? Is it at all useful, or not much more worth it than than my manual hauling the rope up.

Radar - Not gonna happen. I'm at the mouth of a river entering the Tangier Sound, which enters the Chesapeake Bay. If I am ever in a situation where radar helps, I am already way too much over my head.

Chartplotter - Humminbird 798 ci hd si already has that. Plus I don't think I'll stray more than 10 miles from home, so I should be ok with standard GPS and charts.

Kicker motor and backup fuel tank - Well DUH! Now we're talking! How could I forget a Kicker! My motor runs 100%, but a major fear is that it dies 5 miles from home. I have a couple of 8-15HP spare outboards that I could maybe use. Gotta look into that. And kicker-mounts and control and fuel supply, etc. Thanks. So far, I'm only a light-jigger fisherman, but I may get into trolling, and a kicker is mandatory.

Pics coming when the site lets me..........

I'd go for the power windlass before the kicker. It's the one thing I really really wish my boat had.

Yeah. Aside from the fishing benefits, I'm a big fan of having backup propulsion. Murphy loves boats, and his law dictates that even the most religiously maintained engine will break down sooner or later. Having another way to get back to shore, or at least within shouting range of a potential helping hand can't possible be a bad thing.

Even on my old 18' runabout that was only used on smallish inland lakes I used to keep a small trolling motor stashed onboard. Never needed to use it, but I definitely felt some additional peace of mind knowing it was there.

Of course, it helped that I got it dirt cheap. Don't know if I would have dropped the cash on a brand new one for that purpose.
