The Marina brought my boat up to the house and left it on the lawn. I went to get the new boat cover which was in my shed to put on the boat. My wife helped me take it out of the box and we started to unroll and open it up. After we spread the cover out we saw hundreds of Carpenter Ants on the cover and they made about 50 or more holes in it. After killing the Ants I didn't have time to buy a new cover. I remembered that I had a tube of Goop and a motor cover from my old boat. I cut the old canvas into squares and put the Goop on the piece of canvas and the area around the hole. I pressed the two pieces together after letting it sit for a few minutes. The patches held tight and when I checked it a week later they were good and tight. In speaking to a pool installer, he said this happens a lot to pool covers and I should keep my cover in a large plastic box that you use for clothes and seals tight.
