This week end, i'm looking to clean my boat. As we all know sometimes when a boat sits for a long time (about 2.5 years), the febric in the cuddy section gets mildew, the walls inside gets some mildew, the seats etc

- What is the best cleaning solution to clean these off?
- For the fiberglass exterior, any suggestions for soap, compound and wax?

Re: Boat cleaning

Use lots of bleach and Mr. Clean magic erasers.

That is a joke don't use any of the house hold stuff on your boat.

Use a marine mildew remover. I like star bright.

How about :

- Tilex Mildew Root Penetrator and Remover OR
- Starbrite Mildew Stain Remover

What about the walls in the cuddy? It's cloth . Wouldnt bleach take the color off etc?

Re: Boat cleaning

I would not use any house hold cleaners(bleach, 401, etc) on a boat. They are really bad for the jell coat and remove wax. I would not want them near my boat. I would stick with the Starbrite.

Re: Boat cleaning

To remove iron, scum, and general discoloration from the hull on my boat I use toilet bowl cleaner with bleach and Iron Out (or CLR). Yeah, yeah, no household products but I been doing it that way for 20 years and it works 10 times better and faster than anything else I've used. Rub a little wax on afterwards to restore moisture and shine.

Note: Try and avoid colored vinyl decals with this mix as they can fade. Also, WEAR GLOVES.

Yep, don't use bleach(or anything containing bleach) or Mr Clean Magic erasers on your vinyl. Bleach will destroy the threads.
