Does anyone here have the Boat Buddy Trailer Accessory/Locking System from Bass Pro? How has it worked for you? What size of boat do you use it on?
We now have a 20' Cuddy Cabin and are now curious about buying this thing! There are two sizes and, from reading some reviews on it, the larger one is the best for bigger boats.
Thing is, at least for now, the only riders on our boat is wife and I and we are both in our early 60's. I have some physical restriction due to a hip replacement and rotor cup surgery. Because of the cuddy cabin, the bow of this boat is somewhat high...can not be crawling on/off of it like I could our old 16' Bowrider.
So, we are seriously thinking about this Boat Buddy as a big help to us. Any suggestions?

Re: Boat Buddy Trailer Accessory

they do not have a great reputation. the trailer has to be set up perfectly. the trailer has to be backed into the water just right, or the eye and the buddy will not line up.

it is kind of like trying to line up the hitch on the trailer to the ball, only worse.

Yes it could be/would be hard to line the boat up with the Boat Buddy, but I did read some good reviews on Bass Pro also......some people say it's the best boat/trailer connection they have ever used. If the trailer has those Trailer Guides (PVC type), I would think that it would be easier to guide the boat into the thing. I just don't know. And, the use of it may also be dictated by the size of the hull/weight of the boat. I mean, even for a 20' cuddy cabin, there is some weight there being pulled up a ramp with only a metal pin holding the boat onto the trailer! For a lighter boat, such as a smaller Bowrider, it looks like it would be easier. Hummmmmm??????

I have a buddy that likes his in smooth water when he can get things just right. He also made a device that he mounted on the trailer that helps guide it right in. It has a roller for each side of the boat and one that rides on the top of the bow. During towing, he removes the guide.
