Hi all,

New to forums and looking for advice for family vacation. Have rented boats for crabbing and fishing with young boys inshore in the Avalon area. This year thinking about getting a place on the bay and trailoring by 15' Thundercraft from Pittsburgh. Would use in inland channels for crabbing and chasing snapper blues /fluke. Read posts on offshore boat size but did not see anything about inshore. After seeing 12' Vs rented, though I might be ok. Very comfortable on the three rivers here in Pittsburgh, and been out on Erie on a perfect day but pretty new to saltwater. Pic of boat attached and thanks in advance. Thought would be better to ask here.

it will be fine. Subject to the limitations of a 15' boat, of course. trim it UP if it gets choppy.

You can hang out 'round Avalon where the smaller boats do. Know your limitations.

Avalon and all of Cape May County: Great area! Stay away from inlets and watch for the bozos who don't respect the smaller boats.

You see plenty of little crabbin' boats and such. Stick to the sounds and coves and enjoy. Some of my favorite places on earth are around there. Boated there most of my life.
