Anyone have any good tips or have modified their boat to help when anchoring a closed bow boat? I have one and it's very difficult at times.

Tie the anchor rope to the bow eye. Tie another rope about 10 feet down so you can use that 10-15 foot rope to retrieve the anchor. You'll still need to store it inside but you can always leave it tied to the bow and don't need to climb onto the bow to put the anchor in the water as well as retrieve it. When you launch the anchor make sure you hold onto the short piece of rope so you can use it to bring it in.

I had one and I put a set of chocks on either side of the bow light, far and back enough away to not interfere at night, and a set of cleats near the windshield. Flipped anchor rope into chocks and tied off at cleats. You need to develop a touch to do it (get rope into chocks) but with experience it becomes easy.

Mount an anchor roller to your bow?

as you can see in the picture, my cleat is in the center of the bow, with chocks on each side. i deploy anchor from the side, and use a boat hook to place the line in the chock. then just reverse to retrieve.

I have successfully moored as rndn mentioned and posted on here in the past. When fishing the windward side of shore (where the fish are) it works very well.

The anchor line is attached to the bow eye and while underway the bow and snag lines lie along the gunwale with the anchor and the remainder of the line stowed in the cockpit.

If you're in protected water and there's no current, anchor off the stern.

Hey Jeff, did you make that rig? That looks great, very functional looking, and looks like it is rugged enough to endure. Nice and convenient and agree with the stern anchoring if the waves will permit it.

Made this to retrieve the rope form the eye hook.
Made in 10 min for free.
