This happens saturday afternoon between Fort Gains and Columbia.
Source says the people were having motor trouble throughout the day?
They were pulling someone, tube? wakeboard? ski? not too sure.
Source seen boat turn HARD and someone went overboard. The guy jumped in a
boat to go see what was wrong becasue the people were screaming kid in the water..
So a few guys dived for a few mins then realized it was a grown man and after 10 mins or so realized there was
no chance getting him with the river being 30+ foot in that area. SO rescue was called and after a long search he
was found around 2 am.. He had been hit by the prop from what sources said. Sad story..... Prayers out to all involved..
People say some family was setting on the beach area and watched this all happen?

Very sad!...the warmer the summer weather gets, the more boat and motorcycle accidents....folks just want to get outside and have some fun, and it turns to tragedy for some...just very sad!:(

A friend of my fathers was killed in the 70s after falling out of a boat. He was a self taught outboard mechanic who grew up on Kerr lake around boats his whole life. A boat he was working on was found running in slow circles w the cowl off. He was found later and had apparently fallen overboard and tried to grab the circling boat as he was also hit by the prop. I remember my dad and friends could not beleive it happened to him...........he new better.

I was out Sunday and while their was no accident I saw two kids sitting on the front deck of a pontoon dangling their feet in the water while the boat was under way. And its only going to get worse.

Last summer in northern Wisconsin there was a woman killed by doing this. She had been drinking and fell overboard, her sweatshirt stopped the prop but they couldn't get her head above water, drowned.

Isn't that illegal?

Boating courses can't cure stupidity and/or drunk people.
