I have a brand new boat and am looking to purchase and install a boarding ladder.
The one I'm looking at installs onto jack plate by utilizing the existing hardware.
Not sure if naming the product is allowed but my concern is whether this could be
a potential warranty issue. The Mercury manual does state to not attach aftermarket parts.
Any thoughts

a boarding ladder has nothing to do with the motor or the jack plate.

get the forward mounted one that goes between the logs

A little confused here.

Mercury doesn't make jack plates, so don't understand what the Mercury manual has to do with it.

or are you referring to the transom mounting bracket attached to the outboard ? ?

Sure you can name the product, just don't link to or name who you are buying it from.

Are you talking about Bob's ?

Not sure that will help you get in the boat if you are in the water. Y
Looks like you would have to get your knees up out of the water to take the first step.

It should help you get in the boat when its on the trailer though.

Looks like it would use the same bolts that hold the motor, but not actually attach to the motor.

Don't see how this would affect warranty, but I'm no lawyer.

My boarding ladder flips down 180*, then extends about 30" below the hull to where my feet are when I'm in the water.

I misspoke, it does attach to the transom mount bracket. The product is a TH Marine Twist Step.
It is similar to Bobs. I see what your saying though regarding height of first step. Just a bit reluctant to drill holes
for ladder but might just have too. Scott, not sure what you ladder your referring too.

You have a brand new boat and we have to guess what boat you have. Scott guessed pontoon. What boat do you have?

Looking at this iBoats video, you can say the name;

And after seeing the video, I would kill myself trying to board my boat using it.

I have a Tracker Pro 160 bass boat.
The ladder has got allot of good reviews.
I think I might just go with the collapsible
transom mounted style.I'll get over having to drill holes.
