Blue Seas Circuit Breaker Toggle won't stay "ON"

Hello all, I have a Blue Seas Circuit Breaker installed to my washdown pump setup. Last trip out the Circuit Toggle won't stay to the "ON" position, it just springs back to the off position. If I turn my washdown pump on and hold the Circuit Toggle to "ON" it works fine, but as soon as I let go it springs back to off. Is there a fix to this? Or does the Circuit Breaker need to be replaced? I looked around and a replacement for this is in the ~$70 price range. (posted a pic of the type of Breaker)

Thanks in advance,

Jake

Could be 2 issues...
1. Breaker has gone bad, depends on how old it is
or
2. You have an electrical issue causing the breaker to trip. Holding it shut will eventualy burn up the next wire and or cause a fire.

more likely its the pump.

You need to take a look at the wiring and the pump, you probably have a short some wheres

A basic premise of this breaker's design is that it is "trip free", meaning that you can't hold it on if there is a tripping fault. So I'd say the breaker is shot, one way or another. I doubt if there is a system fault if you can hold the breaker's switch handle on and have current flow to your pump. Has there ever been a fault on the system that caused a legitimate trip? Breakers can be damaged over time by excessive tripping and resetting. - Grandad

Late response here, but yes the breaker was shot. Either the spring mechanism or a part that "locks" the toggle to the on postion was bad. Found a brand new Identical Circuit Breaker Replacement off ebay for $45 including shipping, swapped out with same connections and works just fine! Thanks for the responses.
