Re: Blue Fin boats

I believe that one was made by BlueFin Ind. owned by Spectrum at the time. I have no first hand experience with them but have heard good things about those boats. There is currently a company in RI that is called Blue Fin Yachts also goes by Blue Fin Sportfishing Boats, but the Sportsman was the other company which is now gone I believe.

I appreciate your response. The year stated on the title is 1987. The motor is 1982 but not in question. Thanx for your help....

Re: Blue Fin boats

I thought they were out of Minn.??, Back in the 80's Brunswick, owner of Mercury Marine, bought up a bunch of boat manufacturers. Blue Fin, USMarine/Bayliner Spectrum, Sea Ray, MonArk, Astro, Starcraft, Fisher, ProCraft. I beleive the Blue Fin name plate disappearred.

Re: Blue Fin boats

I believe the originals from back in the 80's and early 90's may have been made in MN, and they were a Spectrum/Brunswick company at one point. The Blue Fin Yachts company in RI is a totally different company that appeared about 1995-1996 owned by a Harry Turner I believe. They primarilly make step hulled offshore fishing boats and a few small skiffs.

I would doubt that anything they've produced has made it's way out to the mid-west because of their small distribution area. The largest concentration of Blue Fin Yacts seems to be in the Boston area and sold by Obsession Boat Sales which I believe also has a connection to Harry Turner but I'm not positive about that.

I've got a 1992 Bluefin 17 1/2 aluminum...says Spectrum on the side too. I don't know who owned them at the time....but do know that they were bought by Basstracker...or rather Tracker boats I believe it was. I found that out when I had a warranty issue with hull seems cracking.
