89 2.3 OMC Ford. Boat overheated to 225 degrees and I shut it down after I realized it has overheating. Fixed the overheating problem and now when I take it out and I try to give it some throttle I hear a knocking sound coming from engine. The boat puts out quite a bit of white smoke when I run it on the muffs. Did a compression check and all cyl are around 150 but #2 is only at 90. Does this sound like a blown head gasket? Thanks for any help.

225? F is not all that hot, although I'm afraid that does sound like the head gasket. What does the #2 spark plug look like? Very clean? Moisture on it?

#2 spark plug did not look any different than any other one. There was no sign of water being in that Cylinder.

I had a similar problem at the end of last season. Overheat then soon after loss of power, then knocking. Compression was down in two cylinders and it was indeed a blown head gasket.
