Blown fuse

We have a Mariner 45 , runs fine out of water, but blow fuse on engine often, boat hasn’t been used for a few years. Has new gas tank and new gas, but it wouldn’t start, took home started out of water, died and blew fuse on engine several times. Any ideas where to thanks.

The fuse on a lot of motors runs starter solenoid, power trim and gauges. Look for a shorted purple wire, a melted purple wire or one with the insulation rubbed off.

Check areas on the engine and boat where the wire runs thru the cowling. The control can also wear down the insulation, as you move the throttle handle.
