I went to use my new 12V air pump Saturday. I plugged it into the 12V plug in the dash of my Glastron and it ran for about 2 seconds and stopped. Being an old car mechanic, I suspected a blown fuse.

Sure enough, I climb under the dash and found a blown 10amp fuse. I replace the fuse, crank up the pump and it blows the fuse in 2 seconds again. This time I replace the blown 10amp with a 15amp fuse. I crank up the pump and it runs fine.

Question: Would it be OK to leave the 15 amp in?

Re: Blown Fuse

"Would it be OK to leave the 15 amp in?"

That depends on the gauge of the wire. If it's 14 gauge or bigger, then yes. My guess is that if it was factory fused at 10a, it's 16ga, which means the 10a was correct.

Hope that helps!
-Roger
