Blown circuit breaker?

Greetings to all experts (and everyone else),

Took the grand kids tubing last Sat. and had an interesting problem. I shut off the engine and when I tried to start it the 12.5 amp circuit breaker was blow (no power anywhere). I reset the breaker and had power and it started right up but now the tach is stuck at 6000. Everything else worked so we enjoyed the rest of the afternoon, but every time I shut it down, the circuit breaker would trip again. (6 more times). Later in the evening, the problem stopped. the tach is still pegged.
Any ideas?

Thanks for the help!

Disconnect the tach and see if the circuit breaker stops popping.

Thanks for the reply Don,

The tach is still pegged and it has stopped triping the breaker. I've had it out twice since the problem started.

If you took it (the tach) out of the system and the circuit breaker stopped popping, my guess is the tach was the problem.
Replace it and move on.
