Blowing holes in exhaust tubes

I recently purchased a John Allmand 26 and the first time I took her out I blew a hole the size of my fist in the exhaust tube. I replaced thinking that it was just an old piece of tubing that had fallen apart over time. I took the boat out the other day and no issues. When I took it out last night same issue again with new reinforced tubing. What might be causing this?

Ayuh,.... Welcome Aboard,... Yer raw water pump ain't movin' enough water to cool the exhaust,...

So,... It's burnin' up the rubber parts...
