My 1985 Force 50, keeps blowing the breaker (by the starter solenoid in the motor) after running for about 15-30 seconds. I was thinking there must be a short to ground but have been unable to find it. Even with the key in the run position the breaker will not blow, the motor must be running. Can anyone give me a clue to where my problem may be? The motor starts easily and runs great until the breaker blows.
Thanks for your help.
Chet

Re: Blowing Circuit Breaker

If I am not mistaken, this breaker feeds a rectifier (small 1" square device with 4 pin on it), whose purpose is to supply charging voltage from that stator to charge the battery. This rectifer typically converts about 23Volt AC to about 13.5V DC to charge your battery while the motor is running. If rectifer is shot (Diodes shorted) your breaker will trip every time the motor is running.

Part can be replace for approx $35 at a marine supplier or you can purchase a rectifer 50V Max, 20 amp max from Radio Shack for $1.99
