hi guys, i'm having a prob. with my boat blowing a fuse. I have a 2007 bayliner 185 with merc. 3.0 and alpha one. the prolem is that the 15a fuse at the upper back side of the engine keeps popping. the engine will run for a couple of min. then the fuse goes. last week i was out and it popped, and i found that the ground to the battery was loose, but didn't have a fuse to try it. when i got home i tightened the bat. cable and replaced the fuse and ran it for about 10 min. in the driveway with no problem, so i figuered the loose ground arced and blew the fuse. well i just got back from the lake where i put the boat in the water and only got about 20 ft. from the dock and the fuse blew again, it took 2 more fuses just to get the boat on the trailer. i'm trying to avoid having to leave it at the dealer, thell just take to long, i was hoping it's something stupid that one of you guys can point me toward. any help or info. you guys can give would be awsome, thanks

What's the SN for your engine? Is it TKS or not?

Re: blowin fuse

i just had it running in the driveway again with no problem. i tried forward and reverse, with and without the drive engaged and shut off and restarted a few times, and i can't get the fuse to pop. is there any reason this would happen in the water under load and not happen in the driveway not under load? just seems weird. i did notice it seems to happen shifting to nuetral after going at no wake speed. don't know if that helps, just tring to be thorough.

Re: blowin fuse

Next time you run it in the drive way, start turning on the accerssories you have running when in the water. That 15A fuse should go to the ignition and insturments ONLY. If it's been tapped into for some accessories, that would do it. The accessories should be moved to a proper circuit.

the only thing i added was an hour meter atached to the "I" terminal on the ignition switch, thats what the instructions said, is there a better way to hook it up? the only other thing on besides the engine was the blower and it was also on in the driveway.

Re: blowin fuse

Have you tried a wiggle test yet? Touch and wiggle every connection on the engine, drive, under the dash, follow the wiring harness from front to back everything, WHILE THE ENGINE IS RUNNING. It could be something as simple a screw just barley touching 2 wires, and when the boat flexes (even a little) it shorts them out.

Re: blowin fuse

well i looked at wiring diagrams and wiggled all the wires and connections on that circuit (doesn't seem to be to many)and the fuse still won't pop. is there any elec. parts that get put on more load when the engines put under load?

Re: blowin fuse

I didn't say look at a wiring diagram and move certain wires. If it looks like a wire, move it. Period.
