Live in Phoenix. Bought 1st boat this year. 115 i/o omc on 15' Boston Whaler. Thinking about heading up to Colorado River for winter fishing. Typically would layover night before leaving boat on trailer before putting in the water at first light. Nightime air temps can and often do get below freezing. Never noticed how other boaters and guides keep their motors from freezing up, or does it take more than one night to cause block damage? Procedure in manual for full winterize/draining block look very cumbersome to be doing night after night...

Re: Block Freeze

since most motor boxes/enclosures have some type of sound insulation, it also funtions thermally as well.

what i have done in the past is to take a trouble light with a 100 watt bulb and place it in a fume free motor box.

the bulb throws off a surprising amount of heat when confined to a small area/volume of still air and has proven to be sufficient for me.

its also quick and easy to do
