Bleeder valves packed with salt

Tried to bleed one-year old disc brakes from Tie-down and found valves clogged with salt. Any ideas to prevent the build-up of salt in the future?

Can you cover them with plastic or rubber caps" Slip a piece of hose over them with the other end sealed?

You could fill them with a heavy waterproof grease like OMC triple guard grease. Just be careful to bleed corectly.
