Bleed restrictors debate - do they really impact performance?

Hi everyone,

I am hearing mixed opinions on whether they make much of a difference. Just realized I am missing all of mine and told by one person it could be having a significant impact on performance. (especially take off when towing - boat tends to stall if I punch it under 1200rpm) I am then told by another person that they are not that important and if anything you would only notice it at idle.

Curious to hear your opinion!

Best regards,

Only used at idle. They may make idle a bit smoother. If your boat stalls when accelerating, it is likely the idle mixture screws are a bit lean.

Yes if missing and you idle a long way, they can cause stalling/bogging as raw fuel is thrown into cylinder fowling plugs. People try to correct the engine from loading up by adjusting/leaning the idle mixture, thus making mixture to lean and causing futher accelleration problems....

Thanks, I am interested to see what difference it will make on the water. Also hoping the new ones stay in place and not something I have to check on every year.
