Just got back from 4 days of fishing on Black lake. The pike fishing was unreal. 20 to 30 inch pike by the dozens. Countless largemouth. This was my first trip to this lake but not my last. We lucked out on the weather for sure.

I went last Aug. I'm only an hour and a half away and the trip was a nightmare, Got there late and in the morning my boat was half full of water,cracked weld.then the weather got bad.caught alot of fish but all small. if I go again It will be before the lake is full of weeds.<br /> where did you stay? If you have a small boat you can launch (and camp) at eel wier(sp) state park at the north end of the lake.

Wow sorry to hear about your trip.I stayed at Sunnyside just on the other side of the causeway.They have Boat slips with electric and their own ramp. The fishing was so good between the causeway (bridge) and the river that I never even went out to the main part of the lake. Only thing about that lake being so shallow and all it gets rough and I mean rough in a hurry when the wind kicks up. On a side note I am sure you saw some of the Amish folks trotting around with horse and buggy. The land is cheap there and they are moving in. The one day I spotted a horse and buggy with a home made trailer with a nice 14 foot lund aluminum on it. I could not believe what I saw. Later I found his horse and buggy and trailer after he launched, let me tell ya that trailer was beautiful, what a great craftsman he must have been.

We were up last weekend for four days. We stayed at McLear's in our camper. We stayed mainly around Bigge Island fishing. We got a few bass and a lot of small fish and some crappie. I guess we should of gone up the other side of the causeway. The lake was rough but we had a good time and make our trip back up next year.
