As you may know I am taking a job at the hospital, and leaving my other boss of five years. Oct,3 is my birthday and I want it off. The boss wants to do something for my last birthday there. I don't like anyone making a fuss over that day not even Mr Mayfloat. I have told her this year after year and it just doesn't matter. What would you do?

Not a bad post Ms MF. IMHO, just a bad decision on your part. If your soon to be former boss thinks enough of you to give recognition to your birthday, it would be a slight not to accept.

After all that you have been thru with her.. I think she is now feeling guilt! Just say thanks for the offer and move on. My thoughts only.

The something special is not for you, Ms M, it is for her and all your coworkers. Your Birthday is just a good excuse to say thanks and good luck.

Let them have that chance.
