Bimini Upgrade

I am looking into ordering a larger bimini on my '98 Mastercraft MariStar 225VRS. My current bimini mounts on the outside base of the windshields. Since I am getting a larger bimini, I am expecting to move the mounting points back about 12" from where they are currently. What I am curious about is should I leave the mounting point the same way it is currently (on the outside of the windshield), or can I safely re-locate the mounting points to the top on the windshield on the inside the way I've seen it done on newer boats?

Re: Bimini Upgrade

You can mount anyway and anywhere you please. I dont like mounting to the windshield. Think about how it will lay on the gunwales if you didnt have support poles. I have mine mounted on the inside only because the quick release mounts needed a flatter surface. And i can still get my original cover on... with the bimini laid flat. Just do some measuring. Use your current one to hold and move in different ways to see if you have any issues. Oh, and this last boat i popped for ss tubes. They dont seem to be any stronger or sturdier while under way... but it is a helluva lot heavier to take on and off. If i did it again... iwould go aluminum tubing. Hope this helps. Goodluck!
