So here is the MOA stupid questions. I just installed a run of the mill three bow bimini on my bayliner (135 mercruiser). How fast can I go with the bimini up? it has the straps that hook forward and aft.

Re: Bimini Top

You'll have to figure that out. Start at a slower speed (just up on plane) and see how the top reacts. keep increasing the speed (probably better to have someone else do the driving) and see how stable it stays. When it starts wiggling violently back and forth, you're too fast. Adjusting the tension on the bow straps may help a bit. I would consider replacing those with strut bars if you need to go faster than the current setup would allow.

Exactly as Fireman said as the angle it was installed makes a huge difference whether it will catch wind or let is pass through without too much lift. I've done 35 to 40 in mine and routinely leave it up when I pull a skier.

I also run between 30 and 40 no problems. I opened it up one time and the top started vibrating and bowing up. It was obvious when I was going to fast. Keep in mind your stress speed will include any headwind you may encounter.
