got a 2002 Glastron SX 195, and finally looking to get a bimini top. know absolutely nothing about it, so need all the advise i can get. based on what this site offers, i have narrowed it down to a 6-foot one from either Westland or EnduraTop. looks like acrylic is best over poly. any additional feedback would be greatly appreciated. thanks!

The frame is most often over looked component of a Bimini.

Plastic fittings and light weight, 3/4” aluminum tubing are a common means of construction. Fittings break and frames bend quite easily.

The only top I’ve owned that held up was the OEM top that came with my last boat. Stainless fittings, 1” diameter stainless tubing frame and 12.5 oz. Stamoid for the top

I would go with the full SS option. Sunbrella is good, and I like Sun-Dura just as well. I don't like sharkskin.

Hello Mariner Supreme,

SS is great but $$$$, have you had a negative experience with 1" aluminum? Some advise on mounting to original top side window frame bracket, advisable or not? Seems like too much strain may be placed on frame. OEM bimini is small and drops to window top and only 36" long and one must sit. I'de like a bimini thats lays flat back of rear seats and raises to cover driver.
