Found him by word of mouth from local dealers. I asked for a pretty intricate setup. I have a fold-down wake tower, and wanted to be able to extend the front portion to cover me and the wife, and a second portion off the rear that covers rear passengers, but wanted to be able to use the the front portion alone, being able to keep the rear up and out of the way while wake boarding (no rope interference). He quoted me $1100, which I thought was a bit steep, but with all the extras I am asking for, probably not. Was to be finished today.

Well, he called me at 3:00 and said it was NOT going to be finished today, but if I was wanting to take it out this weekend, I could come and get it at 5:00. AND the front half of the bimini top was finished and I could bring it home with the boat to use over the weekend.

Drove over to Tomball, picked up the boat, and the top, though not completely finished (no adjustable strap clips and no travel boot) looked much better than I anticipated. He had changed our agreed design up a little to use less pole, provide more coverage, and higher head room, and also the rear half can be taken off completely, or used folded up. So he took it off the boat (took 2 or 3 minutes) and put it in the back seat of my truck and he says, "Don't decide you like just the front half and stiff me my payment!" I said "you going to let me take it home without paying?" "Sure, but if you decide to not want the back half, please come back and pay for the front half. And be back early monday with the boat so I can put it back in the workshop and finish the rear half."

THAT is the kinda service I like!!!:D

Highly recommended!

Well, it is FREE so far...;) Cant beat THAT deal.

I will be going back. Gotta keep the backseat passengers shaded down here in Texas. It gets miserable hot most of the summer.

a pic of the front half. Holding up quite well. I think I will suggest to move the front strap mount up to around half way up the front waketower pole. Having 6' of strap out front is giving me horrible "hi-speed wobbles".

You got to twist the straps then they will be still and quiet....
One twist only....

I had a half twist in them, maybe need to try a full twist.

Too much strap anyway. Gonna have BB hook it higher on the tower unless he suggests otherwise.

Hey there,

I was looking through a site for boat tops but can't really tell what the best material is to choose?

This stuff is sunbrella.

I got the back half done, and brought it home. It all turned out much better than I expected.

AND he moved the front strap mount halfway up the front tower pole, like I asked :D. I guess he tried it out and found that it was sturdy enough.

Currently have it out of the water hooking up dual battery and A/B/Both switch and installing new CD player with mp3 input. Should have it back on the water this weekend, and have family coming in for a ride. Will get pictures of the entire top when we go out next.

Also, ended up being about $200 less than originally quoted!

Looking forward to the pic of the completed top. The maker sounds like a real professional that takes pride in his work.

Got pictures over the weekend but internet was down, so here they are...

He DID pull that long front strap up the front pole, as I suggested.

The back half needs to be folded up (or removed) in order to use the wakeboard tower for skiing, but that is simply a 20 second fix. When folded forward, there is no rope interference, and the speakers remain uncovered for clear sound quality.

Overall, I am very pleased.
