Bilge pump discharge?

Mercruiser 3.0 in a Campion 185. I replaced the bilge pump but can’t locate the exit point. I can fill the bilge with water and look for the discharge but was hoping someone could tell me where the exit point is. I can follow the corrugated hose back to the rear-centre of the bilge but can’t follow it past that point. I assumed that there would be a through hull fitting but it appears that there is not. Is it possible that it discharges through the leg?

Nope it don't discharge through the leg. Look for a thru-hull on the outside of the boat, above the water line. Usually near the stern area.

This isn't really engine/drive related. The manufacturers put that where they want. It will be above the waterline. I normally see then on one of the sides near the transom.

Mine and most smaller boats ( Less than 20') discharge on the Port side near the transom above the water line.

If its not on the port side, try the starboard side, Probably back near the transom. Either chrome or white plastic - generally speaking.

**Both my Four Winns and Chap discharge on the starboard side.

Fill the bilge with water, turn on the switch and find out for yourself. You have to do that anyway since its a new unit and it needs to be tested.

My StarCraft must be left handed. I am. Ambidextrous actually. That coupled with dyslexia makes for an interesting life.

If you fill your bilge, only put in enough water to submerge the pump. You don’t want to soak the engine.

My bilge pump discharges on the starboard side, too.

As stated, get some water in it, enough to kick the pump on then stop, and see where it comes out.

Always a good idea to test those at least once a year and being a new install to boot.

It has to come through the hull somewhere.

Haha, the guy that launched before me yesterday was 'testing' his bilge pump apparently. That's the generous way to describe what most us would call launching without the drain plug installed...

Did that and almost sunk the boat, had an alarm on the 2nd bilge pump before my next trip , I hear a piercing scream so I know I am sinking.

I have a 500 gph low for rain water and a 1100 gph farther up just in case, if the big one kicks off I know there is and issue.
