Bilge pump, connects

On my SS there is 1 bigle pump that does not work  Well it works only when you connect it to battery directly and does not shut off. I will take it apart and see if it is "fixable".
Regardless, I will get another automatic pump as the backup (and maybe another new one to replace existing one). So here is the question. How to I connect hoses for 2 pumps? I was thinking of running 2 hoses from both pumps over the top edge and then connecting them after the edge using Y connector. The reason for connecting them after is becuase I have only 1 hole through transom for the bilge purposes. I am also afraid taht if I will connect them using Y BEFORE the top part then water from one pump will flow not over the edge but will flow down to another pump.

Also, existing pump has 3 wires - positive, negative and ground that was conncetd to the hull. It is automatic pump but I have never seen the pump taht was only aotomatic, usually they are manual and automatic or only manual. So how would this one be turned on manually? Or maybe it is not a ground wire at all?

I think I have answered my second question regarding wiring by reading the manual :D Looks like it is supposed to have only 3 wires - one negative, one for auto and one fore manual. Now I need to figure out what whould happen if I connect auto to the plus terminal.

Me thinks the manual goes to the switch side so it provides power when you switch is on , the auto goes to the hot side and it closes at the switch when water level tells it to so neg to neg. switch wire to dash switch and auto to the constant power source plus side.

Yes, I figured the electrical connectors. What about the hoses? Would it be ok to use Y connector after the high point?

If you think you might need them working at the same time ?? Not thru a y as it will restrict the flow to the same as only one pump on. Best to put another outlet on the hull, wont look bad and then you can have both on, doing a full time job if needed.
