My Johnson auto bilge is staying on.I am going to replace it and have been online for hours and still not sure what brand is best and should I go to a manual pump with a seperate float switch?

Take it out, make sure there is no debris stuck inside the float mechanism and then try it. A simple leaf or a stem from a leaf can jam the switch into a constant on position.

Rig it so that you have a float activated swithch AND a seperate manual switch.
