Bilge/livewell pumps

I would have posted this in the Sylvan section but that area doesn't seem to get much traffic so I'm posting it here.

Just recently, my bilge and livewell pumps stopped working. There's power to and from the switches so I'm wondering if anybody can tell me if there's anything common down the line. Also, can you tell me how the bilge pump is attached to the hull? The space where these pumps are located is tough to get to and seeing them is virtually impossible. Any help would be appreciated.

Boat is a 1996 Sylvan 17 Pro Select.

Re: Bilge/livewell pumps

A small mirror is your friend.

Most Rule pumps the filter grate/mounting plate is screwed down. The motor/pump assembly clips to it with two press to open clips about two inches tall. This way you can replace the pump or service a clogged impeller without replacing the mount.

I'd be interested to see how many newer pumps will fit a several year old base. I'm skeptical I'd plan on replacing the mount with the pump.

Thanks, I was able to see that the pumps are Mayfair Marine which are still in production so I may be in luck.
